8-18-21 THOUGHTS

Last Friday (8-13-21),  we talked about INTERCESSION.  Our thoughts this morning are related and similar.
MEDIATOR    Mesites   Strong’s 3316     1) one who intervenes between two, either in order to make or restore peace and friendship, or form a compact, or for ratifying a covenant    2) a medium of communication, arbitrator
1Sam 2:25  "If one man sins against another, God will mediate for him; but if a man sins against the LORD, who can intercede for him?" But they would not listen to the voice of their father, for the LORD desired to put them to death. [Eli is trying to discipline his two son’s who are evil and unyieldng. ]

Gal 3:19-20    Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made.  20  Now a mediator is not for one party only;  whereas God is only one.
1Tim 2:5    For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
Heb 8:6    But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as He is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises.
Heb 9:15    For this reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
Heb 12:24  and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.
Job 16:19   "Even now, behold, my witness is in heaven, And my advocate is on high.
1John 2:1-2   My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; 2  and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.
If I read this last correctly, if I did sin (and I do) Christ is my LAWYER BEFORE GOD, and if God ‘s WRATH was stirring against my sin (and that would be right), Christ AS MY PROPITIATION would be the one to appease that wrath, to make it go away!  He would help me back to PEACE WITH MY GOD!
Col 1:19-20     For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him,  20  and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself,
having made peace through the blood of  His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.

My Prayer:
We Praise and thank you O God, for the peace and forgiveness that is in Christ Jesus.   We could not live nor hope without our Savior.  These are blessings that could only come from your mind and power.  Thank you for this great reconciliation.  Help us to abide in you.  Sustain us with your Spirit-Word!  Bless our day, and our loved ones who have been evacuated by fire.  We pray your blessing on all who fight these fires and those affected by them.  In Jesus name      Amen
